Graduates CelebrateAchievements at Lake Forest College in the United States

Lake Forest College,a small liberal arts college located just north of Chicago,celebrated the accomplishments of its graduates at its annualcommencement ceremony in May. As family and friends gathered towatch, over 300 students received their diplomas and turned theirtassels to mark the end of four years of hard work.

The ceremonyincluded speeches from several distinguished guests, including thekeynote address delivered by Harvard Business School Professor, Dr.Scott Snook. Dr. Snook shared insights from his impressive career inmilitary leadership and management, advising graduates to pursueexcellence, be resilient, and continuously learn from theirexperiences.

The graduatesthemselves were also honored, with several receiving recognition forexceptional academic and extracurricular achievements. Among theaward recipients was biology major Elizabeth Rodriguez, who wasrecognized for her research on antibiotic resistance in bacteria.Another standout student was theater major, Alex Thompson, who washonored for his contributions to the campus theater program as both aperformer and director.

As the ceremony cameto a close, the graduates processed out of the auditorium, led by thecollege’s bagpipe band. The sound of bagpipes filled the air, asthe graduates high-fived friends and hugged family members incelebration.

Beyond the ceremonyitself, the occasion of graduation provided a chance for graduates toreflect on their time at Lake Forest College and the growth they’veexperienced during their four years on campus. Emily Park, apsychology major, noted how much she’s changed since arriving oncampus as a freshman. “I came here without a clue and now I’mleaving with so much knowledge and experience,” she said. “I’mgrateful for all the opportunities I’ve had here and I’m excitedto take what I’ve learned and apply it out in the world.”

For many othergraduates, commencement marked a bittersweet goodbye to a communitythat’s become a second home over the past few years. “I’ll misseverything about this place,” said Emily Wong, a communicationstudies major who was also a member of the college’s women’sbasketball team. “The friends I’ve made, the professors who’vesupported me, and the experiences I’ve had here have all beenamazing.”

But despite theemotional farewell, graduates also looked forward to the future andthe possibilities it holds. For computer science major, Michael Lee,graduation marks the start of a new chapter. “It’s exciting tothink about all the opportunities that are out there,” he said. “Ican’t wait to see where life takes me.”

As the graduatesleave Lake Forest College and move on to the next phase of theirlives, they do so with a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, andexperiences. The college’s mission statement aptly sums up the goalof their education- to “empower students to lead lives ofsignificance and impact.” With degrees in hand and the college’svalues in their hearts, these graduates are poised to make adifference in the world.
