Graduation is amonumental milestone in anyone's life – a moment of reflection andcelebration of all the hard work and dedication put into achievingacademic excellence. For me, graduating from South Dakota StateUniversity (SDSU) was an incredibly proud and fulfilling moment thatmarked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Located inBrookings, South Dakota, SDSU is a public research university thatoffers over 200 undergraduate and graduate programs. It is thestate's largest and oldest institution of higher education, with arich history dating back to 1881. I chose SDSU for its reputableacademic programs, as well as its welcoming community and beautifulcampus.
My journey at SDSUbegan four years ago when I enrolled in the College of Arts,Humanities, and Social Sciences, pursuing a degree in CommunicationStudies. Over the course of my undergraduate experience, I studied arange of subjects, including media studies, organizationalcommunication, interpersonal communication, and public relations. Igained practical skills through internships and volunteer work, anddeveloped critical thinking and problem-solving abilities throughchallenging coursework and engaging discussions.
One of the things Iappreciated most about SDSU was the diversity of its student body. Ihad the opportunity to meet and learn from peers from all over theworld, bringing unique perspectives and experiences to the classroom. This diversity made for rich discussions and broadened myunderstanding of global issues.
In addition toacademics, SDSU offers an array of extracurricular activities andorganizations. I was involved in several clubs and societies, including the Communication Studies Club and the InternationalStudent Association. These groups provided me with leadershipopportunities and helped me to build lasting friendships withlike-minded individuals.
As my senior yearapproached, I began to feel a mix of excitement and apprehensionabout graduating. On the one hand, I was eager to take the next stepin my career and apply the knowledge and skills I had learned. On theother hand, I was sad to leave the place that had become my home forthe past four years and the people who had become my family.
The process ofapplying for graduation and preparing for the ceremony was bothexhilarating and nerve-wracking. I ordered my cap and gown and filledout paperwork to ensure that I had met all the necessary requirementsto graduate. I shared the news with my family and friends, who wereproud of my accomplishments and excited to attend the ceremony.
The day ofgraduation arrived, and I woke up early with a mix of nerves andexcitement. I put on my gown and hood, and joined my fellow graduatesin a procession to the ceremony. It felt surreal to be walking acrossthe stage and receiving my diploma, surrounded by my classmates andfamily members. As I looked out at the sea of faces in the audience,I felt a sense of gratitude for the support and encouragement thathad brought me to this point.
Graduating from SDSUwas a bittersweet moment, marking the end of my undergraduateexperience but also the beginning of a new adventure. I left with asense of confidence in my abilities and a commitment to lifelonglearning. The memories, friendships, and skills I acquired at SDSUwill stay with me for years to come, and I will always be proud tocall myself a graduate of this esteemed institution.
